{"id":40,"date":"2008-11-02T12:09:24","date_gmt":"2008-11-02T19:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lalato.com\/wp\/?p=40"},"modified":"2011-05-09T15:56:26","modified_gmt":"2011-05-09T21:56:26","slug":"what-ive-been-up-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lalato.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/what-ive-been-up-to\/","title":{"rendered":"What I&#8217;ve been up to&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been relatively quiet lately&#8230;\u00a0 here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been up to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working!\u00a0 I tallied up the total number of vacation days I&#8217;ve used this year.\u00a0 The total was 4.\u00a0 That&#8217;s right, I&#8217;ve only had 4 days off of work this whole year.\u00a0 How sick is that?\u00a0 Well, I plan on remedying that over the next couple of months (more news to come).\u00a0 Other than that, work itself, has been going relatively well.\u00a0 Still lots of changes, but I feel relatively safe right now.\u00a0 By safe I mean, that I have been busy as hell working a lot of different projects.<\/li>\n<li>Commuting!\u00a0 Up until last week I had been commuting to Chicago by train and bicycle.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been great.\u00a0 I feel less burnt out when I&#8217;m done with work.\u00a0 I feel a little more motivated to actually go to work each week.\u00a0 And that&#8217;s why winter has me worried.\u00a0 The colder it gets, the less likely it is that I&#8217;ll be able to commute by bike.\u00a0 Which means that I&#8217;ll need to start driving again.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s just hope that gas prices stay low this winter (yeah right!).<\/li>\n<li>Volunteering!\u00a0 I have been volunteering time to two community organizations.\u00a0 The Bike Project is a bike collective in Champaign-Urbana.\u00a0 It gives people a chance to learn how to fix their own bikes and to build their own bikes from donated used bikes.\u00a0 They also do things like give away bike lights, build bikes for underprivileged kids and other organizations.\u00a0 I also volunteer a little time at WEFT, 90.1, a local community radio station.\u00a0 Champaign-Urbana is blessed with several community radio stations.\u00a0 My &#8220;job&#8221;
