When I first started looking for one, I wasn\u2019t quite sure what I wanted\u2026 but thanks to the power of the intorwebs, I have found several options\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>1. Downtube (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.downtube.com\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.downtube.com<\/a>):\u00a0 The model I\u2019m looking at is the 2007 9 FS.\u00a0 The 9 means 9 speed.\u00a0 I think I can find it fairly easily on eBay.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Dahon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dahon.com\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.dahon.com<\/a>):\u00a0 These are a bit pricier, but you do tend to get what you pay for with most bikes and these are no exception.\u00a0 The Glide P8, The Mu and the Curve are models I wouldn\u2019t mind getting.\u00a0 Alas, these are probably out of my price range.\u00a0 The only one I can really afford is the Boardwalk and it\u2019s basically a folding beach cruiser.\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/lalato.com\/wp\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_sad.gif\" alt=\":(\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 Citizen (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizenbike.com\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.citizenbike.com<\/a>):\u00a0 This is definitely in my price range, but reviews I\u2019ve read make it out to be an OK, not great, bike.\u00a0 Again, you get what you pay for I suppose.\u00a0 But considering my budget, it\u2019s definitely something I\u2019m looking into.\u00a0 Bike snobs probably wouldn\u2019t touch this one with a ten foot pole.\u00a0 I laugh in the face of ten foot poles.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Birdy (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.birdybike.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.birdybike.com<\/a>):\u00a0 Birdy falls into the \u201cif money were no object\u201d category.\u00a0 These bikes are awesome, look great, and all the reviews say they perform really well.\u00a0 Sadly, they cost quite a bit.<\/p>\n<p>There are other brands, some in my price range, some not.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad I found the wacky world of folding bikes.\u00a0 I had no idea there were so many options.\u00a0 As noted above, I\u2019m seriously looking at the Downtube bike, if I can get it on eBay.\u00a0 If not, I might go with another of the bikes that is in my price range.\u00a0 Either a used Dahon or a Citizen or something else if I can find a good deal on eBay or Craigslist.\u00a0 By this time next month I should have one\u2026 just in time for the awesome Fall biking weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013sam<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Originally published at Kickin&#8217; the new Kuh-nowledge.
